Micro- teaching. Feelings and thoughts before, during and after.

The first time I saw in the schedule of our program “micro-teaching” I felt nervous of knowing that I should have to perform it with my colleagues, the fact of being observed is scary sometimes. However, after two weeks it was not the same impression I felt that I had the tools to try something, what? I wasn’t sure but I felt ready. But then we had tons of work and activities in week three so I was worried because of the time, seven minutes performing a mini-lesson might look without endless.
We were on the day for our first speaking micro-teaching, the bravest were the first ones, but during their activities I felt comfortable behaving as student in an English class again, it was fascinating how we were sharing after each micro-teaching ideas of how to make it better or how it might work with our students.
Everybody was respectful and ready to support others, I felt more confident and it was my turn. I planned a lesson thinking on something that might be useful with my students in the elementary school, to be honest I don’t let my students practice speaking frequently, now I know that it is not good for them, and if I plan a good activity it will be worthy and it doesn’t mean that I should take the complete class to have a speaking activity, there are short activities but the point is to set clear objectives and what do I want to develop with my kids, fluency or accuracy. Considering their level and age I think that fluency is better and then work harder with accuracy. I can start with the easiest issues as production of reduced forms, linguistics features in face to face, use of facial features it might be a good beginning.
After my micro-teaching the moment that I most enjoyed was the feedback, I was alive after everything😊, the first stage was to reflect about my own performance , what would I change, to think back is hard, sometimes as teachers we teach as we learn, we don’t see some details that others can observe. Then Mathew gave some comments which I agree absolutely, think always on students’ level, if the vocabulary is clear for my students and clear and short instructions, the longest the most difficult to catch, the simplest the easiest.  Then my colleagues wrote some comments for me, when I had my written feedback and the comments from my classmates I could reflect deeper and I really appreciate all their comments because in this way I can improve my teaching practice. I took into consideration this reflection to plan my grammar micro-teaching, this time I was more confident.  It was a great challenge  , I realized of my weaknesses and strengths and got many ideas from the other micro-teachings that I will try with my students.
